Money

Right so as previous posts suggests I’m saving up to buy a house- the biggest thing I’m ever going to get to buy. I don’t care about getting a nice car or flashy handbag (well not that flashy) but my god, I could go to town on the kind of house I want.

Why am I finding it so hard to save my money. Scratch that…why is it so easy to spend money?

I bought (ordered) my new winter coat last week, it was a big purchase coming in at just over Β£100 buy I’ll use it for at least 2-4 years makin it good value, an I live by the idea of you buy cheap you buy twice. Anyway, I found a voucher code for 20% off and bought ‘brilliant’ ill save money…so I quickly stuck a pair of Β£80 boots in the basket as well.

I didn’t even have to get my card out of my purse, all I did was sign in and click order…and there was my money gone (I know my card details off by heart anyway, proper addicted to Internet shopping). It was just so easy.

That 20% voucher saved me Β£62 but I ended up spending over Β£150…even as I’m writing this, i know how crazy and silly spending that amount of money is when im saving, but there’s a part of me patting myself in the back, congratulating myself on my thriftiness, god I’m gullible πŸ™‚

I’m going to have to learn how to sell stuff on eBay or else I’m done for.

Dreams

Today I started imagining where things would go in my imaginary house, that I can’t yet afford. I decided that all my cups/plates/glasses/bowls will be mismatched I also decided that none of my walls are going to be magnolia. I decided that I should probably start learning how to wallpaper, and refinish furniture…

I really am set against buying a couch and chairs that come from the same collection, I want a cool couch, and then go hunting for chairs that will go with it. There will be a selection of blankets around the place (because there’s no way I can afford to put the heating on).

And then, after those 10 blissful minutes, I realised I’m not going to be able to buy the fictional house till AT LEAST May 2014. 😦

If this was a film, it would be the part where the next day I would win the lottery (that I don’t play), realise that someone has accidently put millions in my bank account and get chased by agents in black suits, or meet a rich guy. Well not gonna happen.

I think I’m gonna have to face the reality and just save up the old fashioned way.

*runs off to work out how to make money from selling EVERTHING on ebay.* πŸ˜€

Back to blogging

Ok, I’ve not blogged for a while…mostly because I haven’t had the time, but when I have written a post I’ve been overly hesitant over what to put in and what to leave out, or I’ve had a massive rant about life in general…and as the tagline suggests, that would be a bit of falling over whilst trying to be professional πŸ˜‰

There’s also been the odd moment, where you stop and think, who on earth is interested in me getting up, making myself look presentable and going about my business where nothing *that* exciting really happens.

However, here I am πŸ˜€

Right in the middle of clearing, 7 days straight at work and another 5 to go. Not to sound big headed or anything, but I do enjoy those moments at work where you think, ‘I’m good at this’. <- massive head swelling going on.

Having the opportunity to see what you've learned in the past year or so, and have the confidence that what you know is right is an amazing feeling – having people ask you a question and to be able to answer it honestly, and correctly – whoa. Thinking back to when I started and didn't know a thing about recruitment/marketing/social media and comparing it to what I've learned and what I do now makes me all happy and proud of myself.

We shall skip over the bits where I've messed up and done stuff wrong πŸ˜‰

If I had my way after every successful clearing phonecall there would be a mini party popper and a short lived 'eye of the tiger' music thing happen – but I'm not in charge, so I make do with the thought of that happening periodically throughout the day, makes me giggle a bit.

Essex nΓΊmero uno

2 days in a row! Day one of Essex UCAS started with me sleeping through 2, yes 2 alarms and running round getting ready, but I still got to the place about 40 minutes early- go me!

Sad times though as my mini map was already broken 😦

I’ve found myself getting addicted to late afternoon daytime tv, like Jeremy kyle, real housewives of Atlanta and millionaire matchmaker (which I’m defo going to be series recording when I get home).

Oh yeah and big brother- I cannot get enough of big brother, hopefully I’ll forget all about it when I get home…hopefully πŸ™‚

Anyway I’m off to fashion some sort of waking up device that works on the sun rising and burning a rope which releases a rock on my forehead, Fred Flinstone style πŸ™‚

The tired traveller

So I’m doing this from my phone, somewhere between London Liverpool st and Colchester…apologies for any spelling or grammar mistakes but my phone has a sense of humour and likes to change my words.

Since I last posted, lots and lots has happened:
1- I got made permanent so am no longer an intern…I think…*jumps for joy*.
2- as part of being made permanent I had to have a full blown interview presentation type thing infront of people I know and work with…cringeworthy. But I didn’t even take any kalms- man I’m a grown up… (Grown ups often refer to them as such) πŸ˜€
3- I’ve been off on my travels to UCAS fairs, on numerous trains and so many premier Inns I just don’t know where I am when I wake up…honestly almost asked a taxi driver where I was last week…

So yeah, hopefully ill try this posting from the road thing again, maybe even tomorrow!

I’m still here!

I was off work last week and fully intended to blog – but all the exciting sleeping and not going online kept me from it. πŸ™‚

This week has been so tiring – honestly spend a week noting getting up at 6.30 and the week after you’ll feel like you’ve been hit by a sledge hammer and had lead wieghts put in your shoes! So this is gonna be a quick one

The Degree Show starts tonight, and like a total geek I’m well excited! I’ve been tweeting away and get a little jolt of happiness when I get a ‘You have been retweeted’ message πŸ˜€

I’ll put lots of pictures up- hopefully tomorrow – had a sneak peek yesterday πŸ˜‰

Anyway Here’s a video from one of the students – a second year no less! I think its mind blowing!

It’s the final countdown

Well, maybe not the final countdown, but only one day to go till I have a week off work – oh how I am ready for a week off, without anything planned other than staying in bed, watching the huge backlog of TV I have recorded and baking.

But i did say I would give a bit of a review of Darwin Deez at the Ritz from Friday – well obviously I had a good time, as you know, I chose to go and pay money to go and watch the people play their instruments and make me happy.

Darwin Deez

One question though, and at the risk of sounding old I’m going to ask it – when did people stop dancing at gigs? Really, there was one boy with earphones in! EARPHONES, dear oh dear.

There was lots of room to dance (me and my friends had loads of room for dancing about and had a jolly good time) – and Darwin Deez would stop and have a bit of a choreographed dance themselves, oh the fun!

The rest of the weekend was spent recovering from Friday and being all wholesome doing family things, had a bit of a disaster trying to make bread – the yeast didn’t work…perhaps I should have figured this out when it didn’t ‘prove’…duh!

Anyway – here’s who i spent Sunday evening with πŸ™‚

Baby

There’s a picture of Sophie, my neice, she’ll be 1 in two weeks – and maybe then she’ll start growing hair!

None of this is about work :D

Today is Friday and this makes me happy.

I was poorly all last weekend (well, I started being ill when I got home from work on Saturday afternoon – nothing says I’m really ill more than when it’s at the weekend). So now I feel like I haven’t had any quality time to myself for ages!

Tonight I’m going watching Darwin Deez, I’m excited, and thankful that I picked up the tickets this morning before I left the house. check out my favourite video. << did that sound a bit 'hip'? I hope not … πŸ™‚

Also, I got well excited this morning as the bus driver waited for me to run over to the bus stop…a few weeks ago he would have happily drove past me, I spoke to him too, well, I said hello…and thanks for waiting (normally I'm quite ignorant in the mornings, but I'd lost the squishy thing off the end of my headphones).

Don't worry I found the squishy thing πŸ˜€

Anyway, I'll give a full review of the gig next week.

Oh yeah, hope you enjoyed this Laura! πŸ˜€

I’ve been everywhere

Maybe not everywhere, but Cardiff has it’s own language, an undecipherable language at that – check this out…

That top word says ‘departures’ – craziness!

I’ve been at the Cardiff UCAS fair, all by myself! I stayed in a hotel (had a smashing time watching mad men without any interruptions)!!

If you haven’t seen mad men, you have to! Its great in a ‘I don’t really know why’ kind of way. I got the first three seasons for Christmas and am hooked! I did get to episode 11 of series one and thought’this is amazing…but what’s happened?’

There’s some enviable dresses in there too!

Easter Holidays! In true ‘how I spent my week off’ style

Hello,

Easter break is over and it’s back to work! but I thought I’d share my adventures with you all. My easter mostly consisted of days out with my nieces, wandering around rivington (a massive woods), swimming, and trying (not very successfully) to teach a nine year old how to strategically play scrabble. Oh yeah, Disney films too, they were so good – can’t believe a nine year old girl has still never seen most of them…I’m slowly working on rectifying this!

Anyway, I’ve got a few snaps of my week off and here they are πŸ™‚

photo (2)

That’s the nine year old at Liverpool castle, which was built as a ruin, rather odd! but it was lots of fun looking through all the nooks and crannys πŸ™‚

Possibly the worst set of letters in scrabble?

And finally tickets arrived yesterday for me going watching Darwin Deez in Manchester – pretty excited, his last gig sold out before I got tickets, so yay!
